Obese cars – do they eat a lot?
We are not talking about cars that are for obese people, but about obese cars or rather, cars that by design seem obese.
Actually, the design of a car is precisely to avoid excess weight, since it would make it difficult to control, without neglecting that fuel consumption would be higher.
In this case, these very particular vehicles were created for an exhibition by the Austrian sculptor Erwin Wurm. This Austrian artist, specialized in sculpture and photography, works based on objects from our daily lives, looking for a message and giving it a fun touch.
It seems incredible, the impression that these obese cars give to the eye.
The transformation of vehicles such as a Porsche, through the use of polystyrene, foam, polyester and different shades of varnish, manages to recreate automobiles whose appearance is really obese.
And it doesn’t just create obese cars
The Austrian artist himself, made his latest whimsical creation. On that occasion, a Hot Dog Bus, which offered free frankfurters in Brooklyn Bridge Park, on summer weekends.
The transformation of a Volkswagen Microbus van, into an obese food truck, invites you to approach it and let yourself be surprised by its shapes,
This mobile sculpture was made as a tribute to the basic street cuisine of New York City linked to the Austrian homeland of Wurm. Currywurst from Germany, or Frankfurter from Austria, and hot dog from New York, are connected by this sculpture by Wurm.
These vehicles really create surprise to the human eye and it is not exactly a pleasant feeling, since the aerodynamic shapes of the cars are totally lost with these transformations.
