The most expensive car accident in the world
In December 2011, a massive luxury car accident occurred in Japan. The news is undoubtedly chilling and unique. A total of 14 super sports cars were involved in this accident, including eight Ferraris, a Lamborghini and three Mercedes. Ten minor injuries was the figure for this spectacular accident.
The event took place on a highway in Yamaguchi province. The first of a group of twenty vehicles crashed into the median, according to information from the public broadcaster NHK. The drivers who were behind, trying to avoid it, ended up colliding with each other. The speed at which this convoy of super sports cars circulated was around 140 -160 km/hour.
The drivers, a group of luxury car enthusiasts, were traveling to the city of Hiroshima from Kyushu. That same day a meeting of “super cars” was held in Hiroshima, and 130 kilometers before arriving, this unfortunate accident took place.
According to a witness who was driving in the opposite direction, he pointed out that the cars made a tremendous noise. The damaged cars could cost around 2.8 million euros.
The road remained closed for more than six hours due to the pieces of vehicles that had to be cleaned and cars that had to be cleared.
Oddly enough, it is not the first time that an accident of such magnitude has occurred with luxury cars. Let’s remember the multiple accident at the Nürburgring.
Multiple accident Nürburgring circuit
Fifteen vehicles were involved in this accident, resulting in three serious injuries.
The accident was said to have started when a Porsche 911 GT3 RS collided with a wall, causing a ruptured radiator hose. From that moment on, the track became a very slippery skating rink. It is not very clear yet, because there was no time for the track marshals to notify the drivers, so one by one they fell into this dramatic situation.
