Getting to know the Pea Car VW from Birds Eye

Using a classic Volkswagen model, this vehicle has been created specifically for a marketing campaign. Shaped like a green pea, the American food company Birds Eye promoted its items with this fun and original Pea Car.

The production of the Pea Car

The production of this mini Volkswagen took place for six weeks, and was carried out by the London-based company Asylum. This company provides special effects for film and TV. Its weight was around 1,653 pounds and it was equipped with a Honda engine that gave it a speed of 95 km/h.

Interestingly, even though it was inspired by the VW Beetle, the only piece courtesy of Volkswagen was the headlights.

The Pea Car had no gears, and was built on the basis of an off-road go-kart. Its body made of fiberglass panels, came off on purpose during the advertising video.

The message launched by Birds Eye is the analogy between the vitamins in freshly picked peas and those offered by Birds Eye.
