BMW Vision Next 100 – The car that can change shape

The German firm BMW has presented during the celebration of its 100th anniversary the Vision Next 100, a futuristic prototype, where it has shown the path that BMW will adopt in the coming century.

It is an autonomous vehicle, in the style of the iconic BMW i8, its motto being driving pleasure. The BMW Vision Next 100 has two configurations. On the one hand, the “Ease” configuration that does not require human intervention, so that passengers would relax in reclining seats with a dim ambient light. On the other hand, in the “Boost” configuration, it is the driver who takes control of the vehicle, granting him all kinds of comforts to make driving a pleasure.

The most striking thing is its vivid geometry of the structures with almost 800 mobile triangles on the dashboard and door trims. It has digital intelligence, learning from our driving habits. In its body it uses materials such as carbon and 4D printing of parts. Its surface moves along with the wheels when turning, obtaining spectacular aerodynamics, thus reducing energy consumption.
