Caterham Seven – A treat within your reach
The very light two-seater sports car Caterham Seven by Caterham Cars, is a very light sports car created in the United Kingdom. Based on the Lotus Seven, which was built by Lotus Cars between 1957 and 1972.
When Lotus finished production of their Lotus Seven, it was Caterham who bought the design rights to create their Caterham Seven which is still in production today. The modern Seven, although based on the Lotus, don’t really have any parts the same as the original Lotus.
There are several versions, as well as kits for individuals who want to build them with their own hands. For both street and track riding, there are different degrees of power and settings. Likewise, the chassis may vary, suspensions or engines.

Caterham Seven model range
The Caterham Seven 165 is the smallest model in the range, with a price of less than 30,000 euros. A temptation for lovers of sports cars. It is of Japanese origin since both the engine and the transmission are from Suzuki. Its maximum speed is 161 km/h, weighing only 450 kilos.
Continuing with the Caterham Seven 170, we find a sports car of 3.18 meters and a width of 1.47 meters. The UK option, as it is currently being developed in Japan, has a top speed of 169 km/h. Its acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is done in just 6.9 seconds. Its weight is even lower, being 440 kg.
If we go to the Caterham Seven 485, which is offered in two versions: street and circuit, they are pure nerve and very fast. To get an idea, it would beat the Ferrari 458 Italia in weight/power ratio. It weighs 525 kg with 240 hp. Its price is about 55,000 euros.
And finally, the Caterham Seven 420 CUP, which is a model focused on the track. It consists of a 2.0-litre Duratec engine, which results in a power-to-weight ratio of 375 hp per tonne. Accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds.
