The hairiest car in the world

The Italian Lucía Mugno, a prestigious hairdresser and stylist, has her place in the Guinness Book of Records in 2010, thanks to her car dubbed “the hairiest car in the world”. The car covered in hair with the help of Valentino Stassano, is without a doubt a car with the most extravagant and geek result.

After being part of the Guiness book, they broke their own record by adding 20 more kilos of hair in the form of butterfly wings. The intention was to symbolize freedom and world peace.

Pimping the hairiest car in the world

This 1975 Fiat 500 was covered by its owner with a bush of hair imported from India, increasing the car’s weight by 120 kg. It was human hair that once belonged to different women.

An arduous job, since he disinfected, washed, dyed and combed the vehicle, covering it entirely with hair. Logically, he also used products that are not used on human hair, such as paint to give it more color.

It took 20 days of work, 150 hours in total, creating black and white braids, both outside and inside.

The only part of the vehicle that was not covered in hair was the engine for safety reasons.

Walking Miss Maria Lucia

María Lucía has been walking her furry Fiat 500 once a week through the Italian streets and, like the good stylist that she is, she later washed it with shampoo, combed it and trimmed some annoying hair.

Auctioning the hairiest car in the world

The cost, needless to say, was high as it was around 85,000 euros. Even so, this price would have been redeemed by going to auction with a starting price of 124,000 euros.

Catawiki, a specialist in selling rare objects, was the one who carried out the auction. Unfortunately for Maria, its current owner paid for the hairiest Fiat in the world, only 6,666 euros.
